Bhitarkanika National Park is a prime habitat of' Leopard cat, fishing cat, jungle cat, hyena, wild boar, spotted deer, sambar, porcupine, dolphin, salt water crocodile including partially white crocodile, python, king cobra, water monitor lizards, terrapin,
marine turtle, kingfisher, wood pecker, hornbill, bar headed geese, brahminy duck, pintail, white bellied sea eagle, tern, sea gull, waders and a large variety of resident and migratory birds.
Bhitarkanika can be approached by boat from four main river entry points Khola, Gupti, Jaynagar & Chandbali it is also concted by surfrace from Bhubaneswar with three and half hours drives.
National Park closed for seven days in second week of January each year for Crocodile census & 15th May till 31st July for Crocodile nesting and breeding.
DOs
• Use a license Boat.
• Obtain an entry permit before entering to the National Park.
• Treat the National Park w ith Respect.
• Dress In colours that blend with the Forest.
• Observe perfect silence while moving in the Sanctuary.
• Use torch light while moving in night.
• Obey the rules and regulations inside the Park.
DON'Ts
• Do not use the BOAT WITHOUT HAVING A VALID LICENSE.
• Do not litter the sanctuary and avoid use of plastics and polythene products.
• Do not venture out at night.
• Do not use blaring musical appliances.
• Do not carry outside food into the national Park
• Do not go near to the Water bodies.
• Do not carry fire arms and explosives.
• Do not carry meat or meat product.
• Do not pluck flowers, fruits or any other plant parts.
• Do not get out of the vessel while watching wildlife and do not use spot light.
