East India Shaktipeeth Yatra (11N/12D)

Covering the sacred Shakti traditions of West Bengal, Odisha, Assam and Tripura, this journey blends tantra, coastal spirituality, ancient temple architecture and riverine culture into one divine pilgrimage.

 

Day 1 — Arrival in Kolkata

You will be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel. In the evening, visit Kalighat Kali Temple, one of the most revered Shaktipeeths where the toes of Goddess Sati are believed to have fallen. The temple is deeply associated with fierce Shakti worship and Bengali spiritual culture.

Opening/closing time- 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM

Later, explore the colonial charm of Kolkata and enjoy authentic Bengali cuisine.

Overnight stay in Kolkata.

 

Day 2 — Kolkata to Tarapith

Distance: Approx. 220 km

Travel Time: 5–6 hrs

Drive or take a train to Tarapith Temple, among India’s most powerful tantric pilgrimage sites dedicated to Maa Tara. The temple is closely linked with the mystic saint Bamakhepa and centuries-old tantric rituals.

Witness the spiritually intense evening atmosphere around the temple complex.

Opening/closing time- 5:30 AM to 10:00 PM

Overnight stay in Tarapith.

 

Day 3 — Kankalitala Excursion

Distance: Approx. 60 km round trip

Travel Time: 2 hrs

Visit Kankalitala Temple near Shantiniketan, believed to be the place where the waist portion of Goddess Sati fell. Surrounded by serene rural Bengal, the temple carries a peaceful yet mystical aura.

Opening/closing time-6:00 AM to 8:00 PM

In the evening, enjoy the cultural ambience of Bolpur and Shantiniketan.

Overnight stay in Tarapith/Bolpur.

 

Day 4 — Kolkata to Bhubaneswar

Distance: Approx. 440 km

Travel Time: 1 hr flight / 7 hrs train

Arrive in Bhubaneswar, the ancient temple city of Odisha known for its Kalinga-style temples and spiritual heritage.

Proceed for an excursion to Biraja Temple, an ancient Shakti shrine where Goddess Biraja is worshipped as Girija. It is believed that the navel of Goddess Sati fell here, making it one of Odisha’s most sacred Shaktipeeths.

Opening/closing time-5 am–1 pm, 3 pm–10 pm

Return to Bhubaneswar for overnight stay.

 

Day 5 — Bhubaneswar to Tara Tarini Excursion

Distance: Approx. 170 km one way

Travel Time: 4 hrs

Drive towards Maa Tara Tarini Temple perched atop the Kumari hills overlooking the Rushikulya River. Revered as one of the oldest Adi Shakti shrines in India, it is believed that the breasts of Goddess Sati fell here.

Opening/closing time-5:30 AM to 10:00 PM.

After darshan and panoramic river views, return to Bhubaneswar.

Overnight stay in Bhubaneswar.

 

Day 6 — Bhubaneswar to Puri via Konark

Distance: Approx. 220 km

Travel Time: 5–6 hrs

Drive along Odisha’s scenic coastal route visiting the magnificent Konark Sun Temple, Chandrabhaga beach and Ramachandi Temple.

Reach Puri by evening and relax near the sea.

Overnight stay in Puri.

 

Day 7 — Puri Temple Exploration

Visit Vimala Temple located within the sacred complex of Jagannath Temple. The temple is considered one of the important Shaktipeeths where the feet of Goddess Sati are believed to have fallen. No offering to Lord Jagannath is considered complete without first being offered to Maa Vimala.

Opening/closing time-5:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Spend time at Puri beach before returning to Bhubaneswar.

Overnight stay in Bhubaneswar.

 

Day 8 — Bhubaneswar to Guwahati

Distance: Approx. 1,000 km

Travel Time: 2 hrs flight

Fly to Guwahati in Assam, the gateway to Northeast India.

In the evening, enjoy a peaceful Brahmaputra riverfront experience and local Assamese cuisine.

Overnight stay in Guwahati.

 

Day 9 — Kamakhya Darshan

Distance: Approx. 12 km local

Travel Time: 40 mins

Visit the legendary Kamakhya Temple atop Nilachal Hill, regarded as the holiest tantric Shaktipeeth in India. It is believed that the yoni of Goddess Sati fell here, symbolizing feminine creative power and fertility.

Opening/closing time-5:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Later, explore Umananda Temple and the vibrant Assamese local markets.

Overnight stay in Guwahati.

 

Day 10 — Guwahati to Tripura

Distance: Approx. 550 km

Travel Time: 1 hr flight + 1.5 hr drive

Fly to Agartala and continue towards Udaipur, the temple town of Tripura surrounded by lakes and royal heritage.

Overnight stay in Udaipur/Agartala.

 

Day 11 — Tripura Sundari Temple

Visit Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the 51 major Shaktipeeths where the right foot of Goddess Sati is believed to have fallen. Popularly known as Matabari, the temple is among the most spiritually significant shrines in Northeast India.

Opening/closing temple-5:00 AM to 9:00 PM during summer (Mar 1–Oct 15) and from 5:30 AM to 8:30 PM during winter

Explore Kalyan Sagar Lake and the royal heritage surroundings.

Overnight stay in Agartala.

 

Day 12 — Departure

You will be dropped at the airport for your onward journey with blessings from the sacred Shaktipeeths of Eastern India.
