BHUBANESWAR- BALIGUDA-RAYAGADA -JEYPORE – GOPALPUR- BHUBANESWAR
DAY 01: ARRIVAL AT BHUBANESWAR:
Arrival at Bhubaneswar Airport/Railway Station, transfer to the hotel. Then proceed for half day tour of the city that includes the Jain Monk’s Caves of 2nd Century B.C. at the twin hills of Khandagiri – Udaygiri, Tribal Museum etc. Evening free at Ekamra hata ( the craft market). Overnight at Bhubaneswar.
DAY 02: BHUBANESWAR-BALIGUDA
After breakfast, drive to Baliguda in the district of Phulbani through the beautiful countryside road having small mountains of Sal forest on it’s alongside. (this is one of the entry points to the tribal highland of Odisha). En-route visiting weaver’s sight at Itamati and some of the typical Odishan tribal areas. Arrival at the hotel in the evening. Overnight at Baliguda. (Distance -300 KMs, Driving time 7 Hrs + Visit)
DAY 03: BALIGUDA
Visit the Barakhamba area for trekking to some of the remote areas of Tatoo Faced Kutia Kondh Tribes. After breakfast trekking according to Tourist’s convenience and comfort. Overnight at Baliguda.
DAY 04: BALIGUDA–KOTHAGARGH– RAYAGADA (Weekly Market on Tuesday)
After breakfast proceeds to Belghar to visit a few Kutia Kondh Tribal areas and the Weekly Market at Kothgarh. Lunch on the Roadside models and then drive to Rayagada. Arrive in the evening. Overnight at Hotel. (Distance -200 KMs, Driving Time -4/5 Hrs + Visit)
DAY 05: RAYAGADA–CHATIKONA–JEYPORE (Weekly Market on Wednesday)
Morning after breakfast visit of Dongria Kondh Tribal market at Chatikona and then drive to Jeypore visiting a few Desia Kondh and Mali tribes. Overnight at Jeypore. (Distance -205 KMs, Drive Time-5 Hrs + Visit)
DAY 06: JEYPORE-ONUKUDELI-LAMPTAPUT- JEYPORE (Market is on Thursday)
Morning after breakfast drive to Onukudelli to visit the most colourful local market of the Bonda Tribes. Visit the colourful Gadabas & Didayee Tribes. Overnight at Jeypore. (Distance 160 KMs, Drive Time-3/4 Hrs + Visit)
DAY 07: JEYPORE-KUNDLI-NANDAPUR- JEYPORE (Weekly Market on Friday)
After breakfast proceed to witness the biggest tribal weekly market of Sana Paroja and Mali tribes in Kundli 65 KMs away via Sunabeda (it is a very colourful market). Later drive down to Jeypore visiting en-route Pottery making village. Overnight at Jeypore.
DAY 08: JEYPORE–GUPTESWAR–JEYPORE (Weekly Market on Saturday)
Morning after breakfast proceeds to Gupteswar 70 KMs away to visit the tribal market of Dhruba Tribes and Cave Temple of Lord Shiva in the hidden mountain famous amongst the tribes. Back to the hotel in the evening. Overnight at Jeypore.
DAY 09: JEYPORE–LAXMIPUR–RAYAGADA
After breakfast drive to Rayagada en-route visit to Jagannath Temple & Tribal Museum at Koraput.(Here Non-Hindus are allowed inside the temples) and all the Temple rites are similar to Lord Jagannath Temple of Puri. Lunch on the way. Overnight at Rayagada. (Distance 140 KMs,Drive Time- 4 Hrs + Visit).
DAY 10: RAYAGADA–TAPTAPANI– GOPALPUR
After breakfast proceed to Gopalpur en-route visit to Chandragiri Tibetan Settlement & Taptapani Hot Sulfur Spring Water. Overnight at Gopalpur. (Distance 250 KMs, Drive Time-6/7 Hrs + Visit).
DAY 11: GOPALPUR-CHILIKA LAKE–PURI
After breakfast boat cruising to Chilika Lake, the largest Brackish Water Lake in Asia. In winter Chilika aflutter with thousands of migratory birds as far as from Siberia. Visit Nalabana Bird Sanctuary, Honeymoon Island. Later visit a few fishing village at Chilika Lake, see the fishermen at work looking to fish Prawns, Mackerel and Crabs. Arrival Puri via Birnarsingpur – a typical Odissan village. Evening relax on the Golden Beach of Puri. Overnight at Puri. (Distance 200 KMs & Drive Time-03 Hrs).
DAY 12: PURI–KONARK- PURI
Morning visit to Lord Jagannath Temple ( Non Hindus are not allowed, but view from outside platform), Shankaracharya’s Monastery located on the downtown of Puri. After breakfast drive to Konark Sun Temple,(also called as Black Pagoda), built by King Langula Narasimha Deva in the 13th Century A.D. in the Golden Art & Architectural Era of Odisha, Chandrabhaga Beach and Ramchandi Temple. Overnight at Puri. (Distance – 110 KMs, Drive Time – 2 Hrs + Visit).
DAY 13: PURI – BHUBANESWAR (DEPARTURE)
After breakfast check out from the holtel & drive to Bhubaneswar en-route visiting Raghurajpur.(the artisan villages & also some other villages with houses decorated with Chita’s for Goddess Lakshmi), Pipili (the colourful appliqué village famous for the colourful Odishan Handicrafts) and Dhauli (the Peace Pagoda famous for the Ashokan Rock Edicts dating back to 02nd Century B.C). Afternoon visit to some of the ancient temples of Bhubaneswar from 7th to 12th Century A.D. The eminent of them are Lord Lingaraja Temple, Parasurameswara Temple, Mukteswara Temple, Bramheswara Temple, Raja-Rani Temple & Bhaskareswar Temple etc. and evening drop at Bhubaneswar Airport/Railway Station for onward journey.
