Ramayana Trail – In the Footsteps of Shri Ram

The Epic Ramayana is a text of great religious value for the Hindus. Ramayana was composed sometime in the 5th CE and it is still alive in the heart of devotees of Lord Shri Ram all across the world. His journey may begin in Ayodhya, but he traveled across many parts of India along with his wife Sita and his brother Lakshman, during their 14 years of exile. There are many places in India that was significant to Ramayana still exists. Here, we offer you an opportunity to follow the Ramayana trail and visit the most important & sacred Ramayana sights in India. These tours are exclusively for religious Hindus and also offer in-depth knowledge of the Epic Ramayana, for the non-Hindus. In this tour along with Ramayana sights, you will get an opportunity to visit two of the Jyotirlingas and one of the Char Dham(Abode of Hindu religion).

DAY 01 :  Arrive Prayagraj (earlier name Allahabad)

On your arrival, our tour representative will meet you and transfer you to the hotel. From here your holy tour commences.

In the afternoon, proceed for the city tour of Prayagraj visiting Triveni Sangam– which is the confluence of three sacred rivers Ganga, Yamuna & Saraswati. Later visit Rishi Bharadwaj ashram, Anand Bhawan, Hanuman Temple, Akshaya Vat, Alopi Devi temple, Patalpuri temple, etc.
Return to hotel and overnight.

DAY 02 : Prayagraj to Ayodhya

Post breakfast, drive to Ayodhya (170 kms/4 hrs drive approx), the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram. Upon arrival in Ayodhya, check-in at the hotel.

In the afternoon, visit Shri Ram Janam Bhoomi – the birth place of Sri Ram, Hanuman Garhi, Karyashala, Kanak Bhawan, Sita Rasoi, Evening witness Aarti ceremony at Sarayu Ghat. Spend some time on the bank of the river to enjoy the serenity of the place.

Return to hotel and overnight.

DAY 03 : Ayodhya to Chitrakoot

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Chitrakoot, which is (264 kms/6 hrs drive approx.). Upon arrival check-in at the hotel.

The holy town of Chitrakoot, situated on the bank of the Mandakini river, is believed to be a place where Lord Shri Ram, Sita, and Lakshman spend eleven & half years out of their fourteen years of exile. Afternoon proceed for the sightseeing tour of Ramghat, Kamadgiri, Gupt Godavari, Sphatik Shila. Sati Anusuya temple, Bharat Milap temple, Janaki Kund etc.

Return to hotel and overnight stay.

DAY 04 : Chitrakoot/Prayagraj/Mumbai to Nasik

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out and drive to Prayagraj airport (130 km/31/2 to 4 hrs drive approx.) to board flight for Mumbai. Upon arrival, drive to Nasik (167 km/approx. 3.20 hrs drive approx.). Upon arrival check- in at the hotel.

Overnight stay in Nasik.

DAY 05 : Nasik to Mumbai

Panchvati, Nasik is located in the Western Ghats along the Godavari river. It is believed that Panchvati was part of the Dandakaranya forest mentioned in the Epic Ramayana and Lord Shri Ram, Sita and Laxman stayed in this area during their 14-year of exile. This place is one of the Hindu Pilgrimage sites where Kumbha Mela is held every 12 years, people all around come here to take a holy dip in the river Godavari.

Morning proceeds for a sightseeing tour, visiting Panchvati. Sita Gufa, Ram Kund, and Trimbakeshwar temple, which is one of the Jyotirlingas out of 12.

Drive to Mumbai, upon arrival check in at the hotel.

Overnight stay in Mumbai.

DAY 06 : Mumbai to Hampi via Hubli

Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed for short sightseeing tour visiting Maha Laxmi Temple, Nariman Point, Gateway of India, Siddhi Vinayak Temple. Proceed to Mumbai airport to board a flight for Hubli. On arrival drive to Hampi (164 kms/4 hrs approx.).Upon arrival check in at the hotel.

Hampi is well known as a UNESCO heritage site. Earlier it was known as Kishkindha and this place was part of the Dandaka forest. According to Ramayana, after Ravan abducted Sita, Shri Ram and Lakshman was in frantic search of her and reached Kishkinda. Here they met Lord Hanuman, the greatest devotee of Lord Shri Ram.

Overnight stay in Hampi.

Day 07: Hampi

Post leisurely breakfast proceed for sightseeing tour of Hampi visiting Kishkinda Falls, Rishimukh hills where Hanuman meets Lord Shri Ram, Sugreeva cave on the way to Vittala temple, Virupaksha temple. Anjaneya hill is believed to be a place where Anjana gave birth to Hanuman.

Overnight stay in Hampi.

Day 08: Hampi/Bengaluru

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Bengaluru (340 kms/7 hrs drive approx.). Upon arrival check-in at the hotel.

Afternoon free of independent activities or visit magnificent Tipu Palace or Lalbagh – the best botanical garden in the country or Bull temple.

Overnight stay in Bengaluru.

Day 09: Bengaluru/Madurai/Rameshwaram

Post breakfast. transfer to the airport to board a flight for Madurai. On arrival drive to Rameshwaram (174 kms/3 ½ hrs approx. one way). Upon arrival check in at hotel.

Rameshwaram is one of the holiest places in India and it is one of the Char Dham (four divine sites in India). It is believed in the Hindu religion that one should visit Char Dham during one’s lifetime. Rameshwaram is also one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, which is believed to be the actual representation of Lord Shiva himself.

Overnight in Rameshwaram.

Day 10: Rameshwaram/Madurai

Breakfast at the hotel.

Proceed for the sightseeing tour of Rameshwaram, visiting Sri Ramanathaswamy temple, Dhanushkodi – is believed to be a place where Lord Shri Ram with the help of the monkey army created a bridge i.e Shri Ram Setu or Adam’s Bridge, across the sea to visit Sri Lanka to rescue Devi Sita, Gandhamardhana Parvatam, The five-faced Hanuman temple, Kalam National Memorial.

Post sightseeing, drive back to Madurai and stay overnight.

Day 11: Madurai Departure

Check out from hotel and offer prayers at the famous Meenakshi Temple – dedicated to the goddess Meenakshi, the consort of Lord Shiva. This temple is also well known as Meenakshi-Amman Sundereshwara Temple. The temple has 14 gopurams and 33000 sculptures and are considered one of the largest temple complexes in India. Also, visit Thirumalai Nayakar Palace built during 17th CE and depicts the perfect blend of Dravidian and Rajput style.

Transfer to airport/railway station to board flight/train for onward journey. Your holy tour finish here.
